There are several different methods by which funds in IRA’s and 401k’s can be used to purchase agricultural real estate.  
 
Essentially, this creates an asset that is no different than and bond or stock market equity.

Any returns or income generated from this agricultural asset is treated no differently than a dividend from a stock market equity or from the sale of a stock or bond. 

 

For certain individuals, this is an excellent vehicle to purchase farm land and have an income producing investment in their portfolio.
